Getting Started

6 questions

SteamerStocks is a virtual stock market simulation platform where you can trade stocks of your favorite Twitch streamers. It's a fun way to learn about stock trading mechanics while following content creators you enjoy. All trading is done with virtual currency - no real money is involved.
No, SteamerStocks uses only virtual currency. When you create an account, you receive $100,000 in virtual funds to start trading. This virtual currency cannot be converted to real money or withdrawn. It's purely for simulation and entertainment purposes.
Getting started is easy: 1) Create an account using your email or sign up with Twitch, Google, or Facebook. 2) You'll automatically receive $100,000 in virtual currency. 3) Browse the Markets page to discover listed streamers. 4) Place your first trade by buying shares of a streamer you believe in. 5) Track your portfolio and build your investment strategy.
Yes, email verification is required to access all platform features. After registering, you'll receive a verification email. Click the link in the email to verify your account. If you signed up using Twitch, Google, or Facebook, your email is automatically verified.
Yes! You can sign up and log in using your Twitch, Google, or Facebook account. This makes registration quick and easy. You can also link multiple social accounts to your SteamerStocks account later through your settings.
SteamerStocks may operate in invite-only mode during certain periods. If enabled, you'll need a valid invite code to register. Invite codes can be obtained from existing users or through special promotions. Each code has a limited number of uses and may expire after a certain date. Enter your invite code during registration to create your account.

Trading & Orders

8 questions

SteamerStocks supports several order types: Market Orders execute immediately at the best available price - use these when you want to trade quickly. Limit Orders only execute at your specified price or better - use these when you want price control. Stop Orders trigger when the price reaches your stop level. Stop-Limit Orders combine stop and limit functionality for more precise control.
To place a trade: 1) Navigate to the Trading page or click "Trade" on any stock. 2) Select whether you want to Buy or Sell. 3) Choose your order type (Market or Limit). 4) Enter the number of shares. 5) For limit orders, set your desired price. 6) Review the order summary including estimated costs and commissions. 7) Click "Place Order" to submit.
A 0.1% commission is charged on all trades. This commission is calculated based on the total trade value. For example, if you buy $1,000 worth of shares, the commission would be $1.00. The commission is shown in your order preview before you confirm the trade.
Orders are matched using a FIFO (First In, First Out) algorithm with price-time priority. This means: 1) Orders with better prices are matched first (higher buy prices, lower sell prices). 2) When prices are equal, earlier orders have priority. 3) Partial fills are possible - your order may be filled in multiple parts as matching orders become available.
Yes, you can cancel any pending or partially filled order. Go to your Order Book page, find the order you want to cancel, and click the cancel button. Once an order is fully filled or already cancelled, it cannot be cancelled. When you cancel a buy order, your reserved funds are released back to your available balance.
The SteamerStocks exchange operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Unlike traditional stock markets, you can place orders at any time. Orders are processed continuously whenever matching orders are available.
Orders can be rejected for several reasons: insufficient funds in your wallet, exceeding position limits, the stock being halted for trading, or invalid order parameters. The rejection reason is displayed in your order history. Make sure you have enough available balance (not reserved) to cover your order plus commissions.
When you place a buy order, the funds needed to complete that order (including commissions) are reserved from your available balance. This ensures you have the funds when the order fills. Reserved funds cannot be used for other trades. When an order is cancelled or expires, the reserved funds are released back to your available balance.

Portfolio & Investments

5 questions

Click "Portfolio" in the navigation menu to see all your current stock holdings. The portfolio page displays each position with its quantity, current price, total value, average cost, and profit/loss. You can sort holdings by different metrics and search for specific stocks.
Unrealized P&L (Profit & Loss) is the potential profit or loss on positions you still hold. It's calculated as: (Current Price - Average Cost) × Quantity. Realized P&L is the actual profit or loss from trades you've closed. Once you sell shares, any gain or loss becomes "realized" and affects your actual account value.
Cost basis (or average cost) is the average price you paid for your shares, including any commissions. If you buy the same stock multiple times at different prices, your average cost is recalculated. This helps track your true profit or loss on a position.
Yes! You can export your portfolio and trade history to Excel format. Look for the export button on the Portfolio page. Exports include all your holdings with current values, cost basis, and P&L information.
Your total portfolio value is the sum of: 1) Your wallet balance (cash), and 2) The current market value of all your stock holdings. The market value of holdings is calculated by multiplying each position's quantity by its current stock price.

Wallet & Funds

5 questions

Every new user starts with $100,000 in virtual currency. This gives you plenty of funds to explore the platform, try different trading strategies, and build your portfolio.
Yes, you can request additional virtual funds through the Wallet page. Click "Request Funds" and provide a reason for your request. These requests are reviewed by administrators and will be approved or rejected. Fund requests are meant for users who want to continue learning after depleting their initial balance.
Available Balance is the amount you can use for new trades right now. Reserved Balance is the amount held for pending buy orders. Your Total Balance equals Available + Reserved. When orders fill or are cancelled, reserved funds become available or are used for the trade.
Your transaction history is available on the Wallet page. It shows all movements of funds including: deposits (approved fund requests), order reserves and releases, trade settlements, dividend payments, and commissions paid. Each transaction shows the amount, type, and resulting balance.
Virtual currency on SteamerStocks has no real-world value and cannot be withdrawn or converted to real money. The platform is purely a simulation for educational and entertainment purposes.

For Streamers

8 questions

To list your stock: 1) Connect your Twitch account to verify your identity. 2) Navigate to "List Your Stock" from the navigation menu. 3) Complete the IPO application wizard: choose a unique ticker symbol (2-5 letters), write a channel description, and review the IPO terms. 4) Submit for admin review. To be eligible for listing, you must: 1) Have a registered SteamerStocks account. 2) Connect your Twitch account for verification. 3) Choose a unique ticker symbol (2-5 uppercase letters). 4) Provide a channel description (50-1000 characters). Previously rejected applications can be resubmitted with improvements.
All streamer IPOs use standardized terms: 100,000 initial shares at $100 per share, creating an initial market cap of $10,000,000. This ensures fair and consistent valuations across all streamers. After listing, the stock price fluctuates based on trading activity.
Listed streamers can reward shareholders with dividends. Go to your Streamer Dashboard, click "Dividends," and "Declare Dividend." Set the amount per share, ex-dividend date (cutoff for ownership), record date, and payment date. Eligible shareholders receive funds automatically on the payment date.
Yes! Listed streamers can view their shareholders through the Streamer Dashboard. The Shareholders page shows all investors who hold your stock, their share quantities, and investment values. This helps you understand your investor base.
If a streamer is inactive for 90 days (no streaming activity), their stock may be delisted from active trading. Shareholders retain their shares, but trading is suspended. When the streamer returns to streaming, the stock can be automatically relisted.
If your listing request is rejected, you'll receive notification with the rejection reason. You can address the issues and submit a new application. Common rejection reasons include inappropriate ticker symbols, insufficient description, or verification issues.
OBS Stream Widgets let you display your stock information on stream using OBS browser sources. Available widgets include: Stock Price Widget (current price, daily change, volume), Portfolio Widget (your portfolio performance), and Ticker Widget (scrolling market ticker). To set them up, go to your Streamer Dashboard, generate a secure widget token, copy the widget URL, and add it as a Browser Source in OBS.

Watchlists & Alerts

5 questions

Go to the Watchlist page and click "Create Watchlist." Give it a name and optional description. You can make watchlists public to share with others or keep them private. Once created, add stocks by clicking "Add Stock" and selecting from listed streamers.
Yes! You can create multiple watchlists to organize stocks by different criteria - for example, one for growth stocks, one for dividend payers, or one for specific gaming categories. There's no limit to the number of watchlists you can create.
Price alerts notify you when a stock reaches your target price. To create an alert: 1) Go to the Price Alerts page or click the alert icon on any stock. 2) Choose "Price Above" or "Price Below." 3) Enter your target price. 4) Add an optional note. When the price crosses your target, the alert triggers and you're notified.
Yes! Active alerts can be paused if you want to temporarily stop monitoring. Triggered alerts can be reset to start monitoring again with the same parameters. You can also delete alerts you no longer need.
You can set multiple alerts on any stock and across different stocks. Set alerts for different price levels to track various scenarios, like entry points, profit targets, or stop-loss levels.

Research & Analytics

5 questions

The Research section provides comprehensive analytics for each streamer including: streaming metrics (frequency, duration, peak hours), viewer trends and statistics, follower growth tracking, category distribution, peer comparison within gaming categories, technical analysis indicators, and trading signals.
Go to the Research page and select a streamer from the index. You'll see multiple tabs: Overview (summary and insights), Streaming Metrics (activity patterns), Technical Analysis (trading indicators), Fundamentals (peer comparison and risk), and Trading (order book and history). Use the timeframe selector to view different periods.
Research data is available for 7 days, 14 days, 30 days (default), 90 days, and 1 year. Different timeframes help you analyze short-term trends versus long-term patterns. Longer timeframes provide more comprehensive data but may include older, less relevant information.
Technical indicators analyze price patterns to suggest trading signals. The Research page shows indicator summaries like "bullish," "bearish," or "neutral" based on mathematical analysis of price movements. These are tools to inform decisions, not guaranteed predictions.
Risk assessment considers multiple factors: price volatility, trading volume patterns, streamer activity consistency, and position concentration. Higher risk doesn't mean bad - some traders prefer higher-risk stocks for greater potential returns. The assessment helps you make informed decisions aligned with your risk tolerance.

Go to Settings > Security and click "Enable Two-Factor Authentication." Scan the QR code with an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, Microsoft Authenticator, or any TOTP-compatible app). Enter the 6-digit code to confirm setup. Save your recovery codes in a safe place - you'll need them if you lose access to your authenticator app.
Recovery codes are one-time-use backup codes for 2FA. If you lose access to your authenticator app, you can use a recovery code to log in. You receive 8 recovery codes when enabling 2FA. Store them securely and regenerate new ones if you use them. Each code can only be used once.

Platform & Technical

7 questions

Stock prices change based on trading activity. When trades execute, the last trade price becomes the current price. Supply and demand drive prices - more buyers push prices up, more sellers push prices down. Unlike real markets, there are no external factors like earnings reports affecting prices.
Yes, SteamerStocks provides a REST API for developers. You can access market data, place trades, and manage your portfolio programmatically. API authentication uses Bearer tokens (via Sanctum) or API keys. Rate limits apply to prevent abuse. Check the API Documentation for endpoints and usage.
Bid Price is the highest price buyers are willing to pay. Ask Price is the lowest price sellers are willing to accept. The difference between them is called the spread. Market orders to buy execute at the ask price; market orders to sell execute at the bid price.
Circuit breakers are automatic trading halts triggered by unusual market conditions. They protect against extreme volatility or potential manipulation. When a circuit breaker triggers, trading in that stock is temporarily suspended until conditions normalize.
Market capitalization (market cap) is the total value of all outstanding shares. It's calculated as: Current Stock Price × Total Shares Outstanding. A streamer with a $150 price and 100,000 shares has a $15 million market cap. Market cap helps compare the relative size of different stocks.
A stock split increases the number of shares while proportionally decreasing the price. For example, a 2-for-1 split doubles your shares but halves the price, so your total value stays the same. Splits make shares more affordable and can increase liquidity.
